The Bardstown Foundation for Excellence in Public Education was started in 1985 as the first private foundation in the state of Kentucky to support a public school system. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $800,000 from private sources to enhance the educational programs of Bardstown City Schools

Among the Foundation’s many accomplishments are the initiation of the Early Childhood Program for 4-year-olds as the first in the state, financial assistance to expand that program to 3-year-olds, technology grants, math and science  programs, and enrichment programs of all kinds to appeal to a broad number of students during school breaks.  In 2005, the Foundation initiated a program to provide stringed instrument instruction during the school day.  Just this past year, Strings students joined with the concert band to present a full orchestra concert.

Please look through our site for more information about the Bardstown Foundation for Excellence in Public Education, the types of programs we make available to our students, and how you can support our efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution!
