Welcome to the Bardstown Family Resource Center!

Family Resource and Youth Services Center are in schools across the Commonwealth to build partnerships between home, school and the community to best meet the needs of students and their families within the district they serve.  Center staff determine student and family needs and collaborate with community partners to offer appropriate services to enhance student success. 

The Family Resource Center serves Bardstown Early Childhood, Primary and Elementary school students and their families and extends services to children age birth to five who are not yet in school.  Offices are located at Bardstown Elementary and Bardstown Primary schools. 
 
Each Center across the Commonwealth offers a unique blend of services based on the population they serve and needs assessments administered to families.  Services offered by Bardstown City Schools' Family Resource Center include but are not limited to the following: 
 
  • Coordination of and referral to pre-school child care for children two and three years of age as well as child care for children age 4 - 12 when school is not in session
  • Supplemental academic support for referred Elementary school students
  • Transition Camp (STEP Summer-Time Early Preparation) for incoming 3rd grade students
  • Referrals to community partners for new and expectant parents
  • Referrals to community partners to empower families to develop plans directly related to their specific needs
  • Welcome to the World packets for new babies in the district including information regarding ages and stages, immunizations and early literacy skills
  • BornLearning Academy for families with children age birth to 5 to increase kindergarten readiness
  • Get Ready! Summer Camp for families with children age birth to 5 to increase kindergarten readiness
  • Coordination with Early Childhood to present Fall Family Fun Night
  • Coordination with Primary to present Kindergarten Literacy Night
  • Memories with Mom event for Elementary student and their mothers or other significant female role models
  • Coordination of Kindergarten Kick Off
  • Referrals to community partners who will assist families in securing health care including vision, dental or general medical needs
  • Coordination of Smile Travelers program
  • Coordination with mental health agencies to connect families to service providers
  • Girls Club for 5th grade girls addressing self-discovery, positive body image, making good choices, communication, understanding emotions, healthy friendships, self-esteem, dealing with difficult issues, reaching out and self-identity
  • Conflict Resolution/Eliminating Bullying programming
  • Friday Food Bags
  • Referrals for acquisition of food, housing, utilities
  • School uniforms and school supplies
