School counselors provide a comprehensive school counseling program that improves student achievement and enhances the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. The comprehensive school counseling program is delivered through classroom lessons, individual student planning sessions, and individual and group counseling. School counselors collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and other school staff to promote student success. School counselors also provide leadership and advocacy to promote equity and access to opportunities and rigorous educational experiences for all students.  We encourage parents and students to talk to their school counselor if they need assistance, to plan for the future, or to stay on track in school. The school counselor is there to advocate for students and to remove barriers to academic success.

Counseling Department Believes That:

All students are important, regardless of age, gender, race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, or ability level.

All students' backgrounds are considered in planning and implementing goals for students.

All students have the right to access to the school counseling program.

Effective Guidance includes individual, classroom, and community activities that promote various programs and provide information to all stakeholders.

All School Counselors should follow the professional school counseling Code of Ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor Association.

Counselors should participate in effective professional development that will enhance the Counseling Department. The needs of the student are considered first when developing an Individual Guidance Plan.
