Margaret Smith

 Welcome
Hi! My name is Margaret Smith and I am a special education teacher. This year will be my fifth year teaching and I am blessed to say that I have been at Bardstown Primary School for all of those years. I attended Western Kentucky University and graduated in 2013 with a bachelors degree in Special Education with a dual certification in learning and behavior disorders and moderate to severe disabilities.

I am married to my husband, Lance, and we have one son, Henry, a set of twins on the way, and a dog named, Tucker. When I am not teaching, I enjoy watching sports (GO CATS!), reading, shopping, going to the lake, camping, and being outside.

As your child's special education teacher, I am here to ensure that your child receives the appropriate supports and resources that set up a successful academic and social environment. In order for your child to succeed it must be a team effort and never forget that you, as a parent, play an instrumental role in your child's educational success. With that being said, please feel free to call, email, or schedule a meeting if you have any ideas, questions, or concerns.

A Look Into Our Classroom

      Current Unit: Thanksgiving
        Book:  Turkey Trouble

Within this unit we will be focusing on: Core vocabulary words, writing and understanding the concept of being thankful, following visual recipes, and trying new foods related to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Friendly Reminders

-November homework can be found in the front of your child's communication binders. Remember to complete this each night with your whole family. It should take no longer than 15 minutes and many of them are functional skills and concepts!

-Check your child's agenda each night for reminders and classroom updates!

-Take time each night to read a book together. Everyone enjoys reading!
