Mr. Frey

Prior to arriving at Bardstown Middle School, I had previously taught in Johnson City, TN and White Mills, KY. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master’s degree from Milligan College (TN) & a second Master’s degree and Rank 1 status from the University of Louisville. I am certified to teach elementary grades K-6 as well as mathematics grades 5-9, science grades 5-9  & Computers and Technology grades K-12. Working with middle school students is where my passion lies - the middle school classroom is where IT's at!

Here at BMS I have served on the middle school instructional leadership team (2002-2005) as well as the School Based Decision Making Council (SBDM 2000-2008). I have also had the privilege of presenting our 6thgrade math data-driven flexible grouping program at the National Middle School Associations Annual Conference in 2008. I have been privileged to have four student teachers in my classroom and have served as a KTIP Resource teacher here at BMS. I am currently serving on the districts Certified Evaluation Team. I have taught a math/financial literacy class at Appalachian State University as part of a Duke TIP Summer camp program for middle school students. For the past 14 years I have also been an instructor for WKU's Center for Gifted Studies Fall and Winter Super Saturday programs. I was part of our districts STEM initiative and taught STEM summer camps prior to the arrival of our BCS STEAM Academy. I am a member of the Association for Middle Level Education, the Kentucky Middle School Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I have also earned certification as a Google Level 1 educator. Just recently, in May of 2020, I was recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award from Campbellsville University for service, leadership and dedication to the teaching profession.
