Mr. Frey
I have been teaching at Bardstown Middle School since 1999. I had previously taught in Johnson City, TN and White Mills, KY. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master’s degree from Milligan College (TN) and a second Master’s degree from the University of Louisville. I am certified to teach elementary grades K-6 as well as mathematics grades 5-9, science grades 5-9 and computers and technology grades K-12.
For those 7th grade students who have shown they are ready for it, I teach an accelerated 7th grade math class to prepare them to take and succeed in Algebra 1 as an 8th grader. This also gives me the opportunity to "loop" with many students and continue to watch them grow and mature as adolescents and blossoming math students - the "magic" of middle school!
I have served in  various school leadership positions over the years having served three years on the middle school instructional leadership team, 8 years on the middle school SBDM Council, including a term as chair of a principal selection committee. I have twice served as a KTIP Resource teacher for our school and most recently I served on the districts Certified Evaluation Team. I am a member of the Association for Middle Level Education, the Kentucky Middle School Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics.  I will be teaching both advanced and regular 6th grade math classes as well as the accelerated 7th grade math classes. I will also remain involved with districts STEM initiative leading our middle school summer STEM Camps. I have worked as an instructor at a Duke TIP Summer camp for middle school students on the ASU campus in Boone, NC teaching a math/financial literacy class and I continue working as an instructor for the WKU Center for Gifted Studies Super Saturdays program on the WKU campus.
