Ms. Hahn

Graduating from Taylor County High School in 1980, I earned an Associate's Degree in Mass Communications from Lindsey Wilson Jr. College in 1982.   Next came a Bachelor's Degree in the same, with a minor in Small Business Administration, from Western Kentucky University, in 1984.   After working at WBRT/WOKH for 3 years I enrolled in the University of Kentucky to pursue a major in English, and earned a Masters Degree in Education, which was completed in 1990.   My entire teaching career has been spent in the Bardstown Independent District, teaching Language Arts the first 17 years, and Arts and Humanities, with an emphasis in Drama, since.   I have two grown children, Katie and Jonathan.  In my spare time I read, ride horses, and sometimes a motorcycle (my husband drives), and love to spend time with my family.  I am very involved with my church and do lots of missions work.  I went to Taiwan on a mission trip last summer.  I have included some pictures of my students and my various activities, below.

6th Grade Drama
In this 9-week class we look at the history of Theater, play some drama games, and explore what makes good Storytelling.   After practicing in small groups, students will read a children's story to the class.  We also pair with the Music class for a couple of weeks to learn about musical theater.  This includes music and drama of course, but also includes dance.  We will learn part of a dance scene from the musical we watch.
7th Grade Drama
In this semester-long class, students will continue to learn about the history of Theater, as well as what goes in to the making of a production. Some students will be 'cast' and memorize and perform short skits.  Others will be 'crew' and learn and begin to create the onstage and behind-the-scenes components of a production.
8th Grade Drama
This year-long class is a continuation of the 7th grade class.  Students learn more about performing and what goes on behind the scenes to make a production possible.  They also learn the basics of Improvisation, and practice their hand at that genre of theater as well.
