Special note to all applicants--this position is a year-long commitment. You must be willing to actively give your time and effort to your school and this club. You must regularly attend the general and executive board meetings as well as occasional meetings designated by your advisor during the summer and/or as needed. Forms must be fully completed and signed by student and parent. Completed forms must be turned in by the end of the school day on March 30th, 2017 in person to Mrs. Boggs in order to be eligible to run for office. Incomplete applications will not be considered. This year officers will be selected through an election/caucus process held during our respective lunch periods based on desired position, April 24th through 26th. Elections will be held during the school day on Friday, April 27th. Officer installation will take place during our end-of-year-picnic that is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 24th at the community park next to the public swimming pool.

There are 11 officer positions available for election in the BHS Key Club. Please be aware of the time commitment that this position entails. If you are a student who is active in multiple clubs, please be aware that the officers meet EVERY WEDNESDAY @ 8:00 and the club meets the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. Check with your other clubs and make sure that this schedule doesn’t conflict. If you know you can’t make this meeting time (which is a set time rotation to help avoid conflicts; then strongly consider where your priorities will lie. This is a very active club and our officers are at the very heart of this organization.

Positions being elected for the 2017-2018 school year:

1. President: In addition to the duties listed on the webpage, he/she will also be responsible for leading officer meetings, creating/distributing meeting agendas, assigning project chairs, maintaining club activities & calendar.

2. Vice President: In addition to the duties listed on the webpage, he/she will also be responsible for creating/distributing Tiger Times Newsletter bi-monthly, maintain constant contact with K-T District Lieutenant Governor, assisting president in all duties, work in president’s absence at meetings/events

3. Secretary: In addition to the duties listed on the webpage, he/she will also be responsible for completing & submitting monthly reports to K-T District by 10th of the month, maintain club records, keep minutes of all meetings (executive and club), create an organized filing system to for all Key Club related documentation & paperwork

4. Treasurer: In addition to the duties listed on the webpage, he/she will also be responsible for attending training session with Mrs. Correro, collect club dues and submit ON TIME (by November 1st), responsible for ordering and distributing club t-shirts, taking attendance at each meeting and maintaining an accessible online record of this information (as well as submit to secretary for filing), must have a dues report prepared & delivered at each meeting (executive and club)

5. Historian/Bulletin Editor: In addition to the duties listed on the webpage, he/she will also be responsible for collecting & maintaining club Google drive for pictures of all club events and socials, must create & submit a club scrapbook at the K-T District convention (DCON), must recruit & find club members to create poster (digital or traditional) and video for K-T DCON. This individual will maintain a storage system for club photos and establish a method for club members to share photos they have taken at service events. This individual needs to attend all of club-sponsored events—and if unable to attend must find suitable replacement and secure photos within 5 days of event and upload to club Google Drive.

6. Sargeant-At-Arms: This position will be responsible for maintaining order at all times and to perform such other duties as assigned by the president. This individual should take care of all the property of the club and assist the secretary in seeing that the national flag and club banner are displayed and assure that the meeting place is properly prepared. Duties should be clearly outlined, and the sergeant-at-arms should be at all club meetings, including board meetings, in a non-voting capacity.

7. Public Relations: This position will be responsible for writing press releases to be published on club webpage, school webpage, local newspaper, as well as any other designated media outlet as a means of publicizing club service events and happenings. This individual should secure original copies (newspaper clippings, screen shots from online posts, webpage printouts, etc.) and maintain a file of these for use in traditional scrapbook at DCON. Press releases should be written and published to club webpage within 7 days of event—timeliness is key to information distribution.

8.  Sunshine Committee (Non-Caucus Position):  This position is responsible for maintaining communication between members and spreading the sunshine in the club.  This includes sending birthday cards, get well packages, and other forms of acknowledgement for significant events and happenings in the club members’ lives.  This individual will keep a log of communication sent and add this information to the club meeting slideshow.  

9. Class Officers: Direct contact for questions and concerns from members of your class, maintain up-to-date service hour sheets for members at each club meeting and pass along to district secretary, handle memberships and increase them for your respective class, encourage sign-ups, retain members, be the leader of your class in competitions and fundraising activities as well as the following class specific responsibilities:

-->12th Grade Class Rep: Establish contact with our Kiwanis sponsor, Mike Brooks, and maintain sign-up & attendance at weekly Kiwanis Luncheons, must distribute & collect permission slips for luncheon each week, must also inform Mr. Brooks, Key Clubbers, and Mrs. Farmer who is attending each week.

-->11th Grade Class Rep: Create, maintain & update calendar & club bulletin board that will be outside of Boggs’ classroom (room 112)—theme must change monthly and include updated photos of club members doing service activities.

-->10th Grade Class Rep: Maintain social media accounts for BHS Key Club (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc) that ensures that our club has a positive and active social media presence in our various activities and events, prepare any and all school announcements for appropriate distribution

-->9th Grade Class Rep: Create & maintain club blog entry on club webpage weekly that details events/happenings in our club and highlights a CLUB MEMBER OF THE WEEK spotlight (must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday of each week)
