On March 6-7, eleven teachers from Bardstown City Schools attended the annual Kentucky Center for Mathematics Conference in Lexington. The theme of this year’s conference was “Intentionality: Making Math Meaningful.” The conference featured guest speakers Greg Tang (Best Practices), Kathy Richardson (Number Concepts), Sherry Parrish (Number Talks), and Douglas Clements (Early Math).
Bardstown Early Childhood was represented by Jennifer Newton and Sierra Rodamaker. The primary school was represented by Michelle Boone, Kelly Ferrell, Candace Littlejohn, and Brandie Downs. The elementary school was represented by Betty Mizutani, Tom Morgan-Hunt, Rebecca Mudd, and Brittany Alvey. Bardstown Primary School’s Math Intervention Specialist, Amy Kellem, presented a session on using visual representations of quantity to improve the quality of student understanding of number.
