Officer Riley
Bardstown City Schools (BCS) extends a warm welcome to the district’s new school resource officer Andrew Riley, who is a police and training officer with the Bardstown Police Department.

Last month, the school district entered into an agreement with the city of Bardstown to secure a full-time, school resource officer (SRO).  Riley is the district’s first SRO. He comes to BCS with nearly 11 years of law enforcement experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Police Studies from Eastern Kentucky University in 2005. After graduating from the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy in 2007, he began his law enforcement career with the Bardstown Police Department as a patrolman.

As an officer, he is a certified driving range instructor and leads drivers training each year for the department.

“Having a son involved in youth sports led to me coaching baseball, soccer, and football teams. I really enjoy being around kids,” said Riley. “As an SRO I’ll have the opportunity to interact with even more kids and be a positive law enforcement experience for them.”

While at Bardstown City Schools, Riley will be responsible for the safety and security of students and staff.  He will also serve as a positive mentor and provide education to students on issues related to law enforcement.

“I am confident Officer Riley will serve as a valuable resource for our students and staff. He will provide an important law enforcement perspective that will strengthen safety and support the work we do to serve our students and their families each day,” said Dr. Ryan Clark, Superintendent of Bardstown City Schools.

Riley is a Nelson County native and resides in the city with his wife and two children. He will assume the role of school resource officer on November 5, 2018.
