Bardstown City Schools (BCS) is pleased to announce the selection of Lance Blanford as the new workforce development and career and technical education (CTE) coordinator.

Last month, the Bardstown City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the implementation of a new district level Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator position designed to identify career and technical education opportunities for BCS students. A screening committee interviewed four highly qualified candidates for the position and recommended Blanford because of his many positive attributes including his work with the Bardstown Chamber of Commerce and Talent Pipeline.

Blanford brings 10 years of business expertise and five years of education experience to BCS. As the owner of Partners in Pediatric Therapy and chief operations officer of Wee Care Learning and Development Centers he has experience facilitating developmental programs that benefit Bardstown youth and their families. Prior to starting his own business, Blanford spent five years as a special education teacher at Bardstown Elementary School developing individualized education plans for exceptional children.

“My passion for the health and welfare of young people has been my driving force as an educator and business person,” said Blanford. “I am excited for the opportunity to utilize my experiences in both of these capacities to help every student achieve their life goals.”

As a business leader, he is active with several community organizations. Currently, Blanford serves on the Bardstown/Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Board as the Workforce Development and Talent Pipeline Management Co-Chair; Lincoln Trail Workforce Development Task Force; a founding member of BRIDGE Nelson County and a 2019 Leadership Nelson County member. He is also a member of the Bardstown Rotary Club and serves as a volunteer for the Nelson County Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Blanford holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Leadership and Development from the University of Kentucky in 2007 and a Master of Arts in Special Education/Learning and Behavioral Disorders from Campbellsville University. Additionally, Blanford earned a certification in Early Childhood Development from Campbellsville University.

"With his proven track record as a successful business owner and deep knowledge of the education system, I am confident that Lance will provide innovative learning opportunities tailored to better meet students’ aspirations for their future," Ryan Clark, superintendent of Bardstown City Schools.

As the CTE coordinator, Blanford will develop industry specific internship, co-ops and other authentic work-based experiences for students to prepare them with employability skills. Blanford will also collaborate with schools to facilitate the development of student individual learning plans.

Blanford is a Bardstown native, 2002 Bardstown High School graduate and resides in the city with his wife (Rachel) and two children. Rachel will take over the day to day operations of Partners in Pediatric Therapy and Wee Care Learning and Development Center. Blanford will start his role as the career and technical education coordinator on April 24, 2019.
