Learning about Community Helpers...

This month the three year old classrooms have been learning about community helpers. On February 8th  we had a visit from  the Bardstown City Fire Department. Firefighter Justin Brown spoke with children about the importance of fire alarms, an action plan and 911.  Firefighters turned on fire hydrants to show students where the water to fight fires comes from.  Students also got to see the inside of the ladder truck. Students painted portraits of community helpers, dressed up as community helpers and had parent volunteers come in and speak to students about their career. Things you can do at home with your child: have a practice fire drill, talk about different jobs when you are out in the community, and share what you do at your job with your child.
