Senior Maggie Downs has been named the 3rd Place winner of the art contest component of The Write Stuff Teen Contest, hosted by the Gilda Club of Louisville.
The Write Stuff Teen Contest is open to students in grades 6-12 who have a cancer connection – their own diagnosis or that of a family member or friend. Students must be residents of Kentucky or Southern Indiana and may enter in one category only – essay, poetry, art or video. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category (1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125). Along with the original artwork, a 200-500 word artist statement is required, outlining the context of the artwork and how it relates to the artist's cancer journey. The artwork will be displayed at a public exhibit in February.
