The 2017--2018 season of the National Council for Women in Technology's Aspirations in Computing Award has officially opened for female students (9th -12th grade).
The National Council for Women in Technology (NCWIT) works to recognize rising young women with computer based aspirations and successes through the Aspirations in Computing award. Female students in the 9th to 12th grades are invited to apply for the High School award through aspirations.org. The application consists of a series of multiple choice questions regarding classes and technology they have available through their schools and home, and a small selection of essay questions regarding their career and education goals, past experience with technology, and extracurricular activities. Students also have the opportunity to get an educator to endorse their application. Applicants are able to win on both a national and local affiliate level.
As an applicant, each student becomes part of the NCWIT AiC Community, a network for technical women who receive benefits including invitations to virtual and in-person meetups, visibility for technical achievements, opportunities for outreach programs (as both an attendee and leader), and exclusive access to scholarships, internships, and job opportunities.
Applications are due online through www.aspirations.org no later than 11:59 (HST) on November 6, 2017.
Students with any level of experience are encouraged to apply: NCWAIT recognizes aspirations as well as accomplishments.
