Mrs. Shawn Boggs
Hello!  My name is Shawn Boggs--better known as the BEST Boggs in the building (just ask my husband)!!  This is my 12th year of teaching (all at Bardstown City Schools), and my 7th year at the high school--we are in for some fun times together!! :)
I received my Bachelor's of Science degree from Saint Catharine College in 2007 and I received my Master's degree in Teacher Leadership through the University of the Cumberlands in December of 2015 and I am currently working on my Rank I in Education Specialist at the University of Cumberlands.  I come from a very large family and grew up in this community--and I graduated from Bardstown High School in a time not so long ago (in my brain, at least!!).  I have been married to Aaron (BHS Assistant Principal) for 22 years and I am the mom of three awesome kids--Devin (a junior at Morehead State University), Tristan (a freshman at Murray State University), and Durbin (a senior)--who keep me very busy around this place.  The odds are that you will find me or my husband around campus at one of the BAZILLION things that we or our kids have gotten into--soccer, band, basketball, archery, track & field, tennis, and tae kwon do-- just to name a few!! :)
Five summers ago I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy (lovingly referred to as Space Camp) program at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsvile, Alabama.  This was a one-week experience where I was selected as 1 out of 200 teachers in the WORLD to get the opportunity.  I learned so much about space science and met teachers from all over the United States and from 27 different countries around the globe. I can't wait to share this new knowledge with each of you!  I am the proud owner of a totally cool blue flight suit (I know you are jealous) and I have a ton of stories and experiences to share.  Just look at this photo of two of BHS' most recent Space Camp Alumni--it highlights one of the cool things we got to do at Space Camp--complete an Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) like astronauts do on the International Space Station while the equipment allows them to feel which microgravity is like!  I have also been lucky enough to take a couple of groups of students back to Huntsville these past five school years to attend the Pathfinder Program at Space Camp as well as take our 10th-12th graders to a custom Advanced Academy experience.  We had a blast!! :)  If you are interested in more information about our Space Camp adventures, visit our webpage!! :)
This year I am teaching two courses, Physics and Intro to Physics and Chemistry (IPC) We are going to be using a lot of different science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) principles throughout our learning progressions--and together we will be doing a variety of hands-on, project-based learning through these branches of science.  We will be completing labs multiple days a week and we will be using these lab activities to help us learn about data interpretation & analysis....which are big skills on the ACT.
I am excited to get the chance to learn and grow with you this year!!  Please feel free to contact me any time if you have any questions!  The best time to speak with me is during my planning period, which is from 12:45 to 1:20, or you can send me an e-mail anytime to [email protected].
I look forward to our class together! :)

Apps used in Classroom Activities
This app allows students to use wireless devices to scan QR codes to connect to a variety of sources of information.
Socrative Student
Socrative--Student This app turns students' wireless devices into interactive student response pads (clickers).
This app allows students to view digital presentations on their individual devices.
This is one of the apps that I use to records lessons for students to view on their wireless devices.
This app will be used during some activities in our room as a "walkie-talkie"....more details to come!! :)
