The Bardstown High School girls’ soccer team continues to break records after their historic season ends. Recently, three of the lady tigers signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and soccer careers at the collegiate level. Seniors Emma Livingston, Macie Rawlins and MaTija Yocum all earned the honor after bringing home the District and 5th Region championship titles.

“These girls are very dedicated athletes with great attitudes,” said Martin Bodkin, head coach for the Bardstown girls’ soccer team.  “For the past six years they’ve been a joy to the program. I know they’ll enjoy the challenge that comes with being freshmen and that will improve their game.”

Emma Livingston will become a part of an elite group of Tiger soccer players who went on to compete at the Division 1 level when she joins the Morehead State University women’s soccer team. Livingston will leave Bardstown High School as one of the leading goal-scorers in the history of the tiger soccer program. She finished her Tiger soccer career with 112 goals, ranking in the top 50 in the history of Kentucky high school soccer and second all-time at BHS. During her 4 years donning purple she had 46 assists in 84 matches. Livingston is a two-time 5th Region Player of the Year winner and was named First-Team All-State as a senior after making the second team as a junior. Emma plans to major in sports management.

Competing with the Lady Tigers has been an amazing experience for Emma. While it’s hard for Livingston to believe how high school soccer career is finished she’s excited that her departure is to achieve a goal she’s had since childhood.

“It’s really crazy to think that I won’t ever put on a Bardstown jersey again,” said Livingston. “ It still hasn’t fully hit me that I accomplished a dream I’ve had since I was a kid.”

Macie Rawlins will become an Eagle when she joins the Spalding University women’s soccer team. Macie was a four year varsity letterman and starter. In the 85 games Rawlins played she secured 12 goals and 20 assists for the Bardstown Lady Tigers. She plans to major in nursing.

“The best of Macie has not been seen yet,” said Coach Bodkin. “She will grow into a great college player.”

Macie credits her success on the soccer field to Coach Bodkin and a team that became her family.

“We have accomplished more and more each year,” said Rawlins.  “Making history at Bardstown High my senior year will be something I’ll remember forever.”

MaTija Yocum will join the University of Cumberlands Patriots in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Yocum closed out her Tiger soccer career with 44 goals and 31 assists. She was a four year varsity letterman and starter. The former team captain for the Bardstown girls’ soccer team was named to the All-District team three times (2018, 2019, 2020). Yocum was also selected for the all-region team as a junior and senior. She wants to major in exercise science.

Playing soccer at BHS was the highlight of MaTija’s high school career and she’s excited to continue playing at the collegiate level.

“Every year we have accomplished something new,” said Yocum. “This year was a little different due to covid but winning regions was big for us.”

While Livingston, Rawlins and Yocum are excited about starting their next chapter they’ll miss their tiger teammates and competing on Garnis Martin Field.

“It was truly an amazing experience with even better teammates and an amazing coaching staff,” said Livingston.  “I accomplished a lot and I couldn’t have done it with them.“

We’ll miss seeing them in purple. Congratulations, Tigers!
